Ingredients

  • Potatoes
  • Oil
  • Black pepper powder
  • Chaat Masala
  • Kashmiri red chilli
  • Roasted Cumin powder
  • Dry mango powder
  • Black salt
  • Mint leaves
  • Coriander leaves
  • Green chillies
  • Tamarind chutney
  • Lemon juice
  • Pomegranate arils for garnish

How to make

  1. Rinse potatoes and then peel them. Chop the potatoes in small bite-sized cubes.

  2. Heat oil in a frying pan. Keep the flame to low medium, and add the potato cubes. One can fry the potatoes in one or two batches depending on the size of the pan.

  3. When one side becomes light golden, turn over and fry the second side. Keep on turning the potatoes required for even frying.

  4. Fry till the potatoes become crispy and golden. Make sure to fry them well so that the potato cubes are not raw or half-cooked from the centre.

  5. Remove them with a slotted spoon. On kitchen paper towels place the fried potatoes.

  6. When the potatoes are not hot enough, take them in a mixing bowl

  7. Add all the spice powders mentioned above. One can adjust the spice powders as per their requirements.

  8. Also, add black salt or white salt as per taste.

  9. Add finely chopped coriander leaves with mint leaves.

  10. One may also add green chillies as per their convenience.

  11. Toss and mix well until all the ingredients get mixed well.

  12. Then add sweet tamarind chutney and lemon juice as per taste.

  13. Toss and mix everything well, so that the chutney and spice powders and lemon juice is evenly coated on the fried potatoes.

  14. Place the aloo chaat in a serving bowl. While serving aloo chaat one can garnish them with some pomegranate arils.

Aloo chaat is a savoury potato snack. People keep adding more and more just to make it more zesty and delicious. Some people prefer adding curd into the aloo chaat as it makes the item a sour one. Sev can go well with aloo chaat, one can sprinkle some of it into their aloo chaat if want. Air frying the aloo chaat isn't a bad idea in this way the item becomes double in amount.
