Classic mushroom butter masala is such a recipe that can be made in various varieties by adding different variations to it. Just take ingredients in the right proportions and always take the soft mushrooms for making it.

Ingredients

  • Mushroom 400 gm, halved or quartered according to their size
  • Salt – To taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Tandoori masala powder 1/4 tsp
  • Cashews 10, soaked in water for 30 minutes and then grind to a very fine paste by adding little water
  • Butter and oil – 2 tsp + 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 2 pinches
  • Whole spices – cloves 3, cardamon 1, cinnamon – half inch stick
  • Ginger – 1/4 inch, chopped
  • Garlic – 3, chopped
  • Onion – 1/2 large, sliced
  • Tomato – 1.5 large, chopped
  • Kashmiri chilli powder – 3/4 tsp
  • Tandoori masala powder – 3/4 tsp (You can also use garam masala powder instead)
  • Methi – 1/2 tsp, crushed
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Whole milk – half cup
  • Salt – To taste

How to make

Procedure to make an amazing and ravishing mouth-watering Mushroom butter masala

  1. Marinate the mushroom with salt, turmeric powder and masala powder.

  2. Set aside for 15 minutes.

  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and whole spices. Saute for 3 – 4 seconds. 

  4. Add chopped ginger, garlic and sliced onion. Saute till onion turns light golden.

  5. Now add chopped tomato pieces. Saute till tomato turns mushy and oil starts separating out from the gravy. 

  6. Add Kashmiri chilli powder and tandoori masala powder. Saute for a minute switch off.

  7. Once cooled then grind to make a smooth paste.

  8. Heat oil in the pan again and fry the mushroom pieces until dry.

  9. Add the ground tomato-onion mixture. Mix well and make the hot water boil. 

  10. Add cashew paste and cook it for a few minutes.

  11. Add crushed kasoori methi and sugar. Mix well. 

  12. If you want you can add 1 tsp butter for an extra taste. 

  13. Finally add in the milk and mix it properly. 

  14. Cook for 1 minute at low heat and serve hot.
