At first, wash the basmati rice properly with clean water and drain it after soaking it for 30 minutes. Add 10 cups of water to a pot and start heating it after you add bay leaf, shahi jeera, cardamom, cinnamon stick and cloves to it. When the water starts boiling, add the drained rice and salt to it. Cook it until the rice is all softened and perfect for the biryani.
While the rice is getting all prepped up, you should all be preparing for the gravy. At first, fry the sliced onions until they turn a little brown. Lower the flame and add all the ingredients have been mentioned for the gravy in the pan. Stir it a little for 5 minutes.
Now, add the chicken to it and also add biryani masalas or chicken masalas to it for the smell. Add turmeric powder and green chilli as well. Cover the lid and cook it for 3 or 4 minutes.
